Mat-Su’s first and only
Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
Women living in the Valley now have access to one of the nation’s leading breast imaging facilities. IAP’s Mat-Su Trunk Road location is Mat-Su’s first and only official Breast Imaging Center of Excellence — an honor bestowed on less than 10% of breast imaging centers around the nation.
What does the designation mean?
To become a Center of Excellence, Imaging Associates of Providence (IAP) underwent a rigorous review of personnel qualifications, equipment requirements, quality assurance, and quality control procedures by a team of board-certified physicians and medical physicists.
The BICOE designation means:
- We have achieved accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
- Our facility has voluntarily gone through a vigorous review process to ensure that we meet nationally accepted standards of care.
- IAP’s personnel are well qualified, through education and certification, to perform medical imaging and interpret your images.
- Our equipment is appropriate for the test or treatment you will receive, and our facility meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines.
Why should I go to an ACR-designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence?
When you see the ACR gold seal, you can rest assured that your prescribed procedure — any procedure related to breast imaging — will be performed with the highest degree of quality and safety.
For your provider, the designation reinforces our commitment to delivering:
- Exceptional patient care.
- Comprehensive breast imaging services.
- Quick, accurate reports.
- Radiology services with the highest degree of diagnostic confidence.
What about your South Anchorage facility?
IAP South Anchorage is already an ACR-accredited facility so rest assured that your mammogram, breast ultrasound, or ultrasound-guided biopsy here will be of the highest quality.
What is the ACR?
The American College of Radiology (ACR) is the largest and oldest imaging accrediting body in the U.S. The 34,000 members of the American College of Radiology include radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists, interventional radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians.
For over three quarters of a century, the ACR has devoted its resources to making imaging safe, effective and accessible to those who need it.
The mission of the ACR is to serve patients and society by maximizing the value of radiology, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and medical physics by advancing the science of radiology, improving the quality of patient care, positively influencing the socio-economics of the practice of radiology, providing continuing education for radiology and allied health professions and conducting research for the future of radiology.
