Approximately 25 percent of all women and 15 percent of all men suffer from greater saphenous vein reflux, commonly known as varicose veins. The traditional surgical treatment for the condition was stripping and ligation, a solution many patients found very painful — and one that required up to six weeks of recovery time. In the VenaCure treatment, a laser fiber is inserted into the vein through a tiny puncture site. The laser energizes the fiber as it is withdrawn from the vein.
