COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CT) SCANNERS

South Anchorage

New! As of January 2012, our South Anchorage location features the Siemens SOMATOM Definition AS 64-slice scanner. Featuring 64-slice speed, IRIS (Iterative Reconstruction) and Adaptive Dose Shield, the AS64 automatically adjusts to your patient’s anatomy to block clinically irrelevant radiation, both pre- and post-spiral scan, and significantly reduces patient exposure — with no compromise in image quality.

Dose Protection. The SOMATOM Definition AS actively manages this radiation dose in 100 percent of spiral examinations, blocking unnecessary doses for that particular patient before and after the spiral scan. Siemens’ Adaptive Dose Shield ensures that only the dose that is clinically relevant to the patient is applied.

Adaptable to Any Patient. Every patient has a different set of medical conditions and diseases, each with their own set of unique circumstances, such as breathing problems or weight issues. These factors can complicate the imaging process. The Definition AS addresses was designed with this challenges in mind and can rapidly image more of the patient’s body with clearer images and may eliminate the need for follow-up tests. The Definition AS may prove particularly valuable in treating larger and more claustrophobic patients, with a wide, 78-cm bore, a broad imaging range, and 500-lb. table-weight capacity.

Answering Diagnostic Questions. With many CT scanners, physicians can see the structure, size, shape, and location of clinical details, but these images can’t answer all diagnostic questions. IAP’s new CT provides additional vital information that enables doctors to differentiate, characterize, isolate and distinguish the tissue, making it easier to determine the disease. How? Using adaptive 4D spiral technology, the Definition AS adapts to each patient’s clinical needs and covers the exact range the patient requires, generating images in 4D. The adaptive 4D spiral addresses functional imaging – images of blood flow over time – of whole organs. In the case of stroke, physicians can use whole-organ imaging to show not only circulation of blood within a small part of the brain, like most CT scanners, but for all of it.

Mat-Su Trunk Road

Our Mat-Su Trunk Road office features the Siemens Somatom Sensation, offering low-dose, 40-slice CT scans. We also use TeraRecon 3D visualization software to view scans from all angles.
Reduced radiation. Our Somatom dramatically reduces patient radiation exposure through its unique “Care Dose” feature; the system automatically regulates radiation output, using only the amount necessary for the specific anatomy being scanned.
Fast rotation speed. The rotation speed (as fast as .37 sec) minimizes motion and reduces scan time — resulting in high quality images with both speed and clarity.
TeraRecon 3D visualization. Our three-dimensional feature reconstructs data into an amazingly detailed three-dimensional image. This allows our technologists and radiologists to view images from all angles — and spot problems that could otherwise go undetected.
CT-A work. We do a great deal of angiography work using contrast to image vascular structures.
Shorter examination times. Our CT features Siemen’s patented Straton X-ray tube, the world's first rotating envelope tube. This high performance tube has a direct anode cooling system and compact design that significantly shortens examination times and improves equipment performance.
