Led by board-certified, fellowship-trained women’s imaging specialist Heather Tauschek, M.D., Imaging Associates of Providence offers full service, state-of-the-art women’s imaging in our conveniently located South Anchorage and Mat-Su Trunk Road offices.
Women’s Imaging is an emerging area of expertise using diagnostic imaging tools — from mammography to MRI scans — to care for health needs specific to women. Our services here at IAP include:
Digital Mammography. Imaging Associates offers both routine screening and full diagnostic mammograms. All mammography at Imaging Associates is digital. Learn more about IAP mammography.
Breast Ultrasound. Breast ultrasound is usually used to determine whether a lump is filled with fluid (a cyst) or if it is a solid (potentially cancerous) lump. Ultrasound offers additional information in selected situations and may be particularly valuable in younger women, and in women who are pregnant or lactating. Learn more about IAP ultrasound.
Breast Biopsies. At our Mat-Su Trunk Road clinic, Imaging Associates offers ultrasound-guided and stereotactic breast biopsies, which are quick, minimally invasive methods to obtain a definitive tissue diagnosis. These kinds of biopsies effectively replace surgical biopsies in many situations, with equivalent accuracy and at a lesser expense.
Breast MRI.
IAP offers breast MRI and breast MRI biopsies at our Mat-Su Trunk Road locations. We are the area’s first and only Breast Imaging Center of Excellence and the only facility in the Valley to offer breast MRI. For more information on and indications for ordering, visit our Breast MRI page.
Bone Density Scans. We offer bone density tests (a.k.a., “DEXA scans”) at our Mat-Su offices to check for osteoporosis, test the strength of your bones and evaluate your patient’s risk for serious bone fractures. Our scan involves just one pass of a low-dose x-ray that yields an image with higher resolution than many other techniques. This is available at our Valley offices only. Pelvic Ultrasound. These tests are primarily used to evaluate the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries to check for growths, lumps, fibroids, causes of vaginal bleeding or pelvic pain, and other problems. Images may also include the bladder and kidneys. Learn more about IAP ultrasound.
Follicular Studies. We work with you and your patient to help diagnose fertility issues, monitor the ovulation process and provide more information than a traditional pelvic exam. Because Imaging Associates offers a great deal of flexibility in scheduling — including same day appointments — we help make accurate timing for these tests easy.
Female Pelvic MRI. Pelvic MRI is an excellent problem-solving tool, often used as a follow up to an abnormality seen on an ultrasound. They’re useful in evaluating pelvic masses, whether uterine, cervical or ovarian. Learn more about IAP MRI.
